3.1 Torsional strength
The minimum breaking torques are determined mechanically by using
a torsion spring or by means of Piezo-electric sensors or wire strain gages.
The screw shall reach the minimum breaking torques as specified in
table 1 before failure occurs.

Scope and field of application
This standard is intended to define and illustrate an inspection procedure
for the gauging of the core diameters of EJOT PT
®
-K threads.
The results of this kind of technique are much more accurate,
repeatable and reproducible than measuring this characteristic
on an optical comparator.
2.0
Gauges
For testing and acceptance of the core diameter of each
EJOT PT
®
-K thread a specific "CORDA-TEST"-tri-roll gauge
must be used.
2.1
Components of the gauging unit
The CORDA-TEST gauging unit is composed of the tri-roll
gauge "CORDA-TEST 5675" and the "dial gauge stand 5698".
The chart rolls of the tri-roll gauge are designed in such a way
that the core diameter d2 will be gauged at the bevels of the thread root profile.

It is available for each EJOT PT

-K screw's basic core diameter.
2.2
Designation of the gauging components
The details for ordering a tri-roll gauging unit for the
different screw sizes must content the specific EJOT PT
®
-K
nominal thread diameter for CORDA-TEST gauge and calibration plug.
The nominal thread diameter should be appended to the identification
number.
Example of a purchase order for CORDA-TEST, dial gauge stand
and calibration plug for a screw with EJOT PT
®

Calibration of the "CORDA-TEST" tri-roll gauges
To insure a proper inspection, the following is recommended :
The calibration of the "CORDA-TEST" tri-roll gauge is
performed by placing the specific "calibration plug"
between the three chart rolls.
The dial gauge should be adjusted to "zero" while the plug is
inserted. Pay attention to the subject that both pointers are
adjusted to "zero".
The "calibration plugs" are designed in such a way, that they
reflect the minimun core diameter of the specific thread size.
Use the rotating dial of the gauge to adjust the tolerance range
of the core diameter to be gauged according to EJOT-WN 1463 C.

Gauging of the core diameter
To gauge the core diameter of the specific EJOT PT
®
-K thread,
the screw must be placed between the three chart rolls.
Then the dial gauge will show the position of the core diameter
within the tolerance range. Rotate the screw when checking the
tolerances.
If the core diameter should be expressed as an absolute
dimension, the minimum core diameter value must be added
to the tolerance range shown on the gauge.
